As the home page states, my name is Steve Arnold. I'm a 37-year-old guy who currently lives in the north Dallas suburbs. I have spent quite a bit of time in England, and I hope to one day live there. I've lived in a number of states around the U.S., most notably Oklahoma (where I was born), Utah (where my family still lives), Michigan, Illinois, and now Texas. I moved to Chicago in 2002 for a job (same company I worked for in Detroit), then moved to Dallas in late 2009 to be near my wife's family (and still with the same company).
I'm a computer geek by trade, and I'm very good at what I do. I love computers in all aspects of life. This means I often spend evenings sitting in front of my computers when I should probably be doing something more useful. I also get to travel for my work, which sometimes lets me see cool places...although I'm usually too busy working to do much site-seeing.
I'm not a clean freak, but I do consider myself tidy. I have a place for everything, and I put everything in it's place. What looks like a stack of junk to you is probably a very organized pile of "important things" to me. I do have a bit of an order issue. I like things consistently ordered in my life. This doesn't mean I'm against change, it just means that I like consistency until change is called for. This is the tendency that generated the acronym of my last name (Anally Retentive Nerd Over Little Details), but I have no issue with that.
I feel like I have a good sense of humor, and I like to laugh a lot. But, I've been told my humor tends towards sarcasm. I like to get as much as I give, so I consider it a fair trade. I have sometimes been described as having a twisted sense of humor, but I firmly believe you can find humor in just about everything if you look hard enough.
Some people say I am pessimistic, but I believe I'm more of a realist. One of my favorite ways to start a sentence is "The reality of the situation is..." which probably lends credence to this view. I have always been a rather serious person (since I was a teenager, if not earlier), and I have always taken my responsibilities very seriously. I am a bit of a worrier, which is why I like things consistent, because it eliminates the need for worry.
I love watching movies and reading books. I don't have cable television at the moment, but I do have Netflix. I can't travel without a book to read. I also like music in most every form. I enjoy singing, even though I don't consider myself very good. Mostly, I just play the stereo, and I play it very well.
I enjoy public speaking and have no qualms about speaking on any subject for any length of time for any audience. I spent 3 years in debate in High School, then about 4 years after High School judging at debate meets. My preferred competitions (both as participant and judge) were impromptu and legislative forum (aka student congress).
I am active in my church. I am a Mormon, which is formally known as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". I generally participate in the church choir (when my schedule allows) and enjoy every opportunity to serve.
For those curious about my physical attributes: I am 6 feet 2 inches tall, overweight (working towards my goal of 220), and I have brown hair, blue eyes, a goatee, and glasses.
I will add more details to this page as I think of them, but if you have any questions, just shoot me an email or a Private Message! You can also peer into my personality by viewing my Flag Page (see www.flagpage.com for more info about Flag Pages). Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, my favorite color is green. For those curious about my professional experience, I've added my resume to the next page.
I recently took another color test, this one to tell me my career options. Here are the results:
